Japan Relief Project
After the Tsunami in Japan, our school wanted to contribute in some way to relief in Japan and to show our support in a positive way. We began making paper cranes in all of the grades and I displayed them on the ceiling in the reception area of our school. The display is beautiful and reminds us of Japan and the empathy we feel in our hearts. I then introduced old style Japanese wood block prints to my classes and each child made their own wood block inspired drawing. These drawings went into our school sale to raise money for relief in Japan. I color copied each drawing and they sold for $1.00 each. The students were proud to have their drawings on display and for sale.
